The visit of hrh the princess royal to county down on the 4th to 6th september 2018

    HRH, The Princess Royal visited County Down for an extended trip on the 4th to the 6th September 2018. She made a number of individual visits during her time in the county. She commenced with the Garden Party @ Hillsborough Castle on the Tuesday afternoon & on the the Wednesday she had an early start at Mourne Textiles near Rostrevor before going on to open the recently restored Portaferry Hub followed by a visit to see the new factory built by by L.E. Pritchitt ltd, part of Lakeland Diaries in Newtownards before finishing the day by opening the Memorial Gardens @ Hydebank. On Thursday morning she attended the 1st day of the 3 day International Sheepdog Trials Society of which she is the Patron.

The 2nd visit on the Wednesday morning was to Portaferry, where HRH was welcomed by Amanda Brownlow DL. She was visiting the new Portaferry Hub & also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Portaferry Sailing Club. The Club had recently purchased the 2nd half of their building, restored it completely and now are going to use it to open the "Hub" which is for the benefit of all the residents in Portaferry.
