the visit by hrh the duke of Kent to Downpatrick, Finnebrogue, castleward, the narrows & the Ards peninsular on 19th & 20th July 2017

HRH. The Duke of Kent visited Downpatrick Cathedral on the afternoon of the 19th July & was received by Sally King DL & met the Bishop of Down, Harold Millar & the Dean, Henry Hull, the Chair of Newry & Mourne District Council, Cllr Roisin Mulgrew & the sheriff of County Down, Hal Catherwood. He then went on to stay at Finnebrogue as the private guest of Noel Lamb Esq. The next day he paid a visit to Castleward where he was received by Gawn Rowan-Hamilton DL & introduced to the Director of the National Trust in N.I, Heather McLachlan, before going on to Strangford & boarding the new ferry, Strangford 11, where he was received by Prof James Nixon DL. He had a short tour of the "Narrows" & then landed @ Portaferry where he went straight up to Exploris where he was received by Amanda Brownlow DL & met the Mayor, Cllr Robert Adair & the Chief Executive of Ards & North Down Borough Council. Finally he had a private lunch as the guest of Lord & Lady Dunleath @ Ballywalter House before returning to the airport.
The Duke is introduced to some of the well wishers by Amanda Brownlow DL @ Exploris in Portaferry.
